5 Videos All Beginning Adult Guitar Players Need to Watch

Learning how to play guitar as an adult isn’t an easy thing to do.  The process can seem overwhelming and it’s hard to know exactly where to get started.

As a beginner, how in the world are you supposed to know which free YouTube video is best?

Or if the information being taught is even correct?

My name is Eric Stone and I’ve successfully taught hundreds of adult beginners how to play guitar for almost 15 years.  I have a certificate in guitar performance from the Los Angeles College of Music where I studied with some of the best guitar players in the world.  I’m also a former school teacher with a master’s degree in education from the University of Pennsylvania.

Many beginners hold their guitar incorrectly.  This keeps them from making progress and it can even lead to injury.  Here’s how to do it.

Video #3 – How to Hold a Guitar Pick

I’ve taught many beginners who hold their guitar pick wrong.  This video will show you how to hold a pick.

Video #4 – One Finger Chords

There are many reasons why beginners fail to learn guitar. One big reason is that they become frustrated when they try to learn difficult chords too soon.  I have my beginning students learn to play one finger chords before they play more challenging chords.
